It is safe to assume that when the Welshes, the family in this video, decided to embark on a boating trip, one sight they never expected to come across was that of a drowning baby deer, struggling to remain afloat and plaintively calling out for help.
In this epic clip – described by uploader Lyle Welsh as a “once in a lifetime moment captured by a team of untrained heroes,” we see the family innocently set off on their expedition, never knowing what they are about to encounter. Soon, the baby deer looms into view, and her screams can be distantly heard.
Without hesitating, one of the brave Welshes launches into the water to save her and bring her back to dry land. Instead of running away as soon as she is released on the shore – as one might expect – the deer pauses for a moment to look back at her rescuers. Maybe she’s saying “thank you.”
