European Travelers Are Skipping the US as Trump’s Return Sparks Tourism Slump

According to Rosemary Potter at Rude Baguette, U.S.-bound tourism from Europe dropped by a massive 17% in March 2025 compared to the previous year. The downturn appears to be a reaction to Donald Trump’s return to the White House. Travel companies are seeing the shift in real time. French hotel group Accor reported a 25% drop in bookings from Europe, and major travel operator Voyageurs du Monde is down 20% since Trump took office. The damage is so significant that Tourism Economics revised its forecast for U.S. travel, predicting a 9.4% decline this year.
