Emirates Airlines Raises Awareness for Endangered Animals!

emirates airlines

For Emirates Airlines, the onboard experience is an essential factor. To enhance this experience further, Emirates has introduced new, eye-catching amenity kits for both economy class and premium economy passengers on their long-haul flights. What sets these kits apart is their unique mission to raise awareness for endangered animals, shining a spotlight on the critical status of these creatures in the wild.

Emirates, the Dubai-based UAE flag carrier, has unveiled these amenity kits, featuring prints of eight different endangered species. This initiative is not just about adding a touch of luxury to the flying experience; it’s about making a difference and advocating for the protection of these endangered creatures. The airline has been a long-standing partner with United for Wildlife, showing its commitment to raising awareness about endangered species and combating the illegal wildlife trade.

The animals featured on the kit pouches and bookmarks are not just random creatures; they are some of the most trafficked species in the world. The imagery includes green sea turtles, African elephants, blue macaws, gorillas, hammerhead sharks, lions, pangolins, and black rhinos.

In a world where sustainability is a growing concern, Emirates has ensured that these kits are eco-friendly. The designs showcasing these creatures are printed in non-toxic soy-based ink, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to environmentally responsible practices. Additionally, the bags themselves are reusable, reducing waste and contributing to a greener planet. Inside these kits, passengers will find a sustainable surprise – recycled plastic is used to produce the socks and eyeshades.

Emirates’ partnership with United for Wildlife is crucial in the fight against illegal wildlife trade. Airlines and transport operators play a significant role in disrupting the supply chains of traffickers. As United for Wildlife Co-Chair, David Fein points out, “Emirates has consistently demonstrated leadership and commitment in tackling this global threat.” The new amenity kits provide a platform for informing and inspiring passengers about the challenges faced by endangered species.

Emirates’ commitment to sustainability extends beyond these amenity kits. As a member of the United for Wildlife Transport Taskforce, the airline has been actively involved in various initiatives aimed at combating illegal wildlife trade. Emirates received an IATA Environmental Assessment certificate and completed an IEnvA Illegal Wildlife Trade module, showcasing the airline’s dedication to protecting our planet’s wildlife.

  1. All animals not human are endangered. Billions end up in slaughter houses and vivisection labs. Most others languish away in zoos, rodeos, bullfights, etc. And a majority are murdered a/k/a “culled” as wildlife “management.”
