Born into the dangerous logging industry in Myanmar, Mosha the elephant lost her leg when she accidentally stepped on a landmine. Her caretaker immediately rushed her to the local elephant hospital, MaeYao National Reserve, run by Soraida Salwala, where they were able to save her life! And though they needed to amputate her front right leg, her resilience proved astounding.
In this video, we see this strong ellie with her new prosthetic leg! It’s incredible to see her gain movement and agility with each step.
Mosha has certainly been through a lot – from the landmine accident and to the cruelties of the logging industry (where elephants are forced haul heavy logs, and endure nothing short of slavery). But now, Mosha can trot around like nobody’s business … in the safety of her sanctuary home where she will never know anything but bliss and freedom!
