Kaya and Robin are two lucky dogs who were rescued by the Humane Society International (HSI). Victims of South Korea’s brutal dog meat industry, these two pretty pups were being raised for meat. When the HSI came in and rescued them from their tiny, crowded cages, it should have been the happiest day of their lives, but having been raised around cruel humans, these poor little ladies were terrified!
HSI wanted to give these pups a better life by adopting them into a forever home, however, it was clear that these dogs would need a lot of rehabilitation before this could happen. That’s when they contacted the experienced doggie experts at the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center.
The ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center located in Madison, New Jersey at the St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare center, specializes in rehabilitating dogs with severe behavioral issues. Upon intake, they realized that these two were particularly special cases because of the way they cowered, trembled, and peed whenever a human came near them. But the staff did not give up.
Using outdoor play, they were finally able to break through the dogs deep fears and get them to relax and enjoy human company. Kaya, the more skittish of the two, is even giving kisses now while Robin was lucky enough to have been adopted in August.
The wonderful transformation of these two dogs would not have been possible without the committed rescue effort of several international animal welfare organizations who are saving and changing lives every day. Thank you for your care and comittment to ALL fearful dogs and for turning their lives around. May you have many, many more successes.
GREAT PEOPLE TO SAVE KAYA AND ROBIN FROM HELL .
A small fortune spent to save a couple mutts from being eaten while thousands and thousands of dogs here in USA are put to sleep each month. What is the greater evil? That dogs are raised as a meat animal in Asia? Or that in the US tens of thousands of dogs are put to sleep for no reason each month?
