When Brutus the Rottweiler was a small puppy, he got frostbite on all four of his paws. Although he clearly needed professional medical attention, Brutus was subjected to an ad-hoc amputation at the hands of his breeder. Sadly, this botched surgery left Brutus with sensitive feet and he cannot walk on hard surfaces without sustaining further injuries.
Luckily, Brutus now lives with Laura Aguila who is helping him recover with the aid of prosthetic legs. Aguila explains that since you can’t tell an animal why they have to wear prosthetics, it makes their transition a little more difficult. While Brutus has his share of struggles with his new legs, he’s taking it all with a playful smile.

As a dedicated dog guardian, Aguila is doing all she can to help Brutus adjust by taking him for walks with his new legs and having him play in them as well. With the help of a handful of treats and Aguila’s enthusiasm and encouragement, Brutus is making strides. Aguila hopes that in time Brutus will be able to run and play with other dogs.

This little Rottweiler is only two-years-old, so we can imagine that he will remain resilient in the face of his disability and go on to lead a life just like any other dog! Good luck, Brutus!
