Most people don’t consider Magpies to be anything other than a common bird species, but these creatures are actually incredibly curious and intelligent animals. While these animals are wild and should be left alone barring some extenuating circumstance, some Magpies have been successfully adopted as pets.
Sqwark, the Magpie in this video, lives with Bonnie Thompson and her dog Whiskey in Australia. You might not think that a dog and a Magpie would – or even could – be friends, but these guys don’t seem to think that there is anything remotely unusual about their friendship.
We could all stand to learn the importance of setting aside all preconceived notions and stereotypes when it comes to making friends with others. Keep on playing, Sqwark and Whiskey!
Although this video is heart-warming and cute, we do not encourage our readers to feed or rescue wildlife. If you find an animal in need, contact a local wildlife rehabber/rescuer or veterinarian ASAP, or call a rescue hotline. Here are some that might help!
