In December last year, we shared the heartbreaking story of Charley. This sweet pup who was discarded in a plastic container and left to die on the side of a highway in Lincoln County, Washington. Luckily, a truck driver was making a quick stop and saw the box.

Charley will now have a warm, loving home to call his this holiday season (and for every holiday of his life!), thanks to the compassion of his foster dad.
With over 70 million homeless dogs and cats wandering the streets in the U.S., we could all stand to do a lot more to ensure the lucky animals who make it to shelters get their happy ending too. If you’re considering welcoming a four-legged companion into your home, please always adopt and never shop. If you’re unable to adopt, animal shelters could always use more volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, so be sure check out our guide to volunteering!
And of course, always speak up when you see an animal in need! If you happen to come across a dog or cat, or any other animal in need, check out these Animal Rescue Hotlines. You could save a life, just like Charley’s! For more ways on how you can get involved to help save animals, click here. Together, we can end pet homelessness!

The useless bastard who left Charley on the highway in a plastic container will reap what he sowed. Karma is a bitch that way. Thankfully this beautiful pup got the best dad ever and has a happy ending which all in all shows that sometimes good things come out of bad situations. Thank you to the truck driver who picked Charley up and took him to a shelter. You are one angel of a good guy.
