Using words, plenty of research, the occasional dose of sarcasm, and a whole lot of love for the planet, I aim to change the world for the better by sharing information and sparking discussions about some of Earth's most pressing issues. A graduate of Baruch College with a B.A. in Journalism and Psychology, I combine my knowledge of human behavior with my love for writing to help people realize the incredible power we all have to leave this Earth a little better than when we arrived. In the past few years, we’ve seen the dairy industry release some pretty bizarre campaigns. One of them, funded by Coca-Cola, featured pin-up women in form-fitting “dresses” made out of milk, mouths agape, and hems afloat Marilyn-Monroe style. That was odd, to say the least. After that, we saw the milk industry launch their new Milk Life campaign, which featured people engaging in physical activity, whether it was walking dogs or playing basketball, and then insinuating that the activity was fueled by milk. Let’s just say we had our doubts about how realistic that claim was.
These ads are without a doubt the sign of a new era – a post-dairy era. While the dairy industry has managed to trick the public into thinking that milk was a necessary part of a healthy diet up until now, consumers are finally waking up to the fact that this is simply not true. There are plenty of delicious alternatives to milk that are available virtually everywhere and the market for dairy-free products is only growing. In fact, dairy-free milks account for 20 percent of dairy case sales and the industry, in general, is expected to reach $14.5 billion by 2021! Dairy-free milk is the future of milk and an important sector in the overall future of food. We’re glad that people are getting exposed to this fact once and for all. So go ahead – do plants!
