Lawmaker Decapitated and Dismembered a Live Chicken in a Facebook Video – Demand He Resigns!

The senseless violence people inflict on animals is always shocking and disturbing, but we do not expect our political leaders to proudly flaunt their acts of animal abuse and torture to the public, which is exactly what Missouri state Representative Mike Moon (R) did this past Monday.

In a video he posted on Facebook, Moon is seen with an unnerving smirk as he grasps onto the legs of a live chicken and holds it upside-down. He then proceeds to decapitate the innocent animal as it helplessly flaps its wings for the last time. To make the disturbing video even more gruesome, Moon then dismembers the chicken, pulling out its organs one by one, ending with the heart.

Why did Moon do this? In the video, he rants about his viewpoints against abortion and his Support for a new law that would ban abortions in the state of Missouri. How does brutally killing an animal reflect anti-abortion viewpoints? It absolutely does not.

As history has proven, those who abuse animals are very likely to abuse people, including children, and possess a violent nature in general; and Moon’s recent actions prove he is not someone who should be trusted in a leadership position.  As a petition on Care2 asserts, this video is “evidence that Moon lacks the judgment and temperament we should expect from our leaders.”

If you are shocked and disturbed by Moon’s senseless act of animal cruelty, please take a moment to sign this petition addressed to him demanding that he resign.
