The United States has an obsession with coconuts: the global industry for coconut products will likely reach $31.1 billion by 2026.  And since coconut is one of the best replacements for dairy, that’s a great thing—as long as coconut farming can be sustainable, both for the planet and the farmers.

With sustainability and social and economic empowerment in mind, Danone’s So Delicious Dairy Free is launching the Good People Loop program in partnership with The Livelihoods Fund and Integrated Rural Development Foundation.

Good People Loop is directly connecting with 1,000 coconut farmers in the Philippines, bringing more transparency to the supply chain. They will also help farmers adopt more sustainable practices like intercropping, composting, and mulching organic matter. By implementing these practices over the next five years, Danone aims to increase crop yields by 50% and coconut farmer income by 100%.
