London, United Kingdom - 19 September, 2024: Chris Hemsworth attends the European Premiere of "Transformers One" at Cineworld Leicester Square in London, England.

After discovering he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene—a genetic marker that greatly increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease—actor Chris Hemsworth decided it was time for a major lifestyle shift. According to GOOD, the revelation came while filming his National Geographic series Limitless, when longevity expert Dr. Peter Attia shared the news privately to allow the star time to process it. The “Thor” actor, known for his intense workouts and high-energy roles, realized that the biggest change he needed wasn’t physical—it was mental.

Hemsworth said he began prioritizing stillness and solitude, carving out time to slow down and escape the nonstop pace that had fueled chronic stress and cortisol spikes. “I don’t want to be in a sprint anymore,” he explained, emphasizing how constant stress can impact brain health and long-term wellbeing. The adjustment has meant less lifting and more mindfulness—surfing, breathwork, screen-free evenings, and time in nature.

Studies show that stress reduction and sleep quality are crucial for protecting the brain from cognitive decline and inflammation. Mindful habits like meditation, plant-based eating, and time outdoors are increasingly linked to better longevity and overall health. Hemsworth’s renewed focus on presence and connection—spending more time with family, soaking up life’s small moments—reflects a growing shift toward holistic health rooted in balance rather than burnout.

While Hemsworth isn’t stepping away from acting completely, he’s stepping into a healthier rhythm—one that reminds us all that slowing down can be one of the most powerful things we do for our brains and the planet.

Taking care of your mind, your body, and the earth are deeply connected—start small by eating more plant-based meals, reducing screen time, and spending time in nature to reset your own rhythm.
