In what can only be described as the epitome of selfish and cruel, a woman recently left 164 Pomeranians stuffed in the back of a U-Haul. Not only that, they were left with no food, no water, and no proper ventilation. That is beyond ridiculous and the action has sparked a petition on Care2, focused on having the woman pay for her potentially fatal actions.

Apparently, the woman was operating an illegal puppy mill and after receiving word of a raid, she packed all the dogs in a U-Haul and tried to make her great escape from San Bernardino, California to Las Vegas. In other words, she was in danger of losing a lot of money and possibly being charged with animal cruelty. As many of you know, puppy mill dogs are usually kept in highly unsanitary conditions, receive little or no medical care, and live in small cages with little social interaction. Thankfully, the dogs were sent an angel in the form of Gina Greisen.

Gina heard the whimpering from the U-Haul and tipped off authorities. “When I walked up to the truck, I was grateful. I was so grateful we found the truck,” said Greisen. “I was so afraid last night that some of them didn’t make it.”

The dogs were transported to a vet with the Animal Foundation. Though most were dirty, with some covered in feces, they are all reported to be alive and safe. The dogs will be treated and up for adoption in the coming weeks. This could have ended much differently, however. This woman embarked on an hours-long trip without giving these sweet dogs not even the basic necessities. Additionally, if the dogs hadn’t been found in time, many innocent lives could have been lost.

Sign the petition and ask the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to charge this breeder with animal abuse. These dogs suffered on the premises of her backyard puppy mill, they suffered on the transport to another state, and they deserve justice. Also, educate others on how cruel the puppy mill industry can be by sharing this article about what can be done to help the innocent victims.
