The Grant County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the incident on Interstate 69, ensuring the safety of the animals and coordinating their rescue. Through social media, the Sheriff’s Office shared images and videos of the unique rescue operation, reassuring the public that all creatures involved were retrieved without harm.

Footage from the scene captured officers providing the stranded animals with hay as a snack while containment measures were put in place. The heartening images depicted the compassionate response of the responders amidst the unexpected chaos.

While the northbound lanes of the interstate were temporarily closed to facilitate the rescue operation, Indiana State Police Sgt. Steven Glass indicated to CNN affiliate WISH-TV that the fire likely stemmed from equipment failure. Ultimately, the animals were safely contained and prepared for transport, marking an unusual chapter in Indiana’s traffic history!
