In a heartwarming turn of events, the famous Osbourne family adopted a stray bulldog named Walter, who was found with severe chemical burns, bringing joy to animal lovers everywhere.

Walter’s harrowing journey began when he was discovered as a stray with horrific burns on his face and neck. California-based animal rescue organization Underdog Heroes, led by Shoshi Gamliel, shared his plight on TikTok through their account @underdogheroes_. The video, showcasing Walter’s injuries and subsequent treatment, quickly went viral, capturing the hearts of millions.

On April 18, Gamliel picked up Walter and was immediately struck by his severe condition. “He could hardly open his eyes and would growl if you came too near,” she told Newsweek. The burns were so extensive that much of the skin on his face was necrotizing.

Despite the uncertainty of what exactly caused the burns, Gamliel suspected it was a chemical burn due to the localized nature of the injuries. Walter was hospitalized and underwent two surgeries to remove dead tissue and treat infections. He was also neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and placed on multiple courses of antibiotics.

Chemical burns in dogs, often caused by exposure to substances like acids or bleach, require immediate and intensive treatment. According to VCA Animal Hospitals, severe burns affect multiple skin layers and may need surgical repair or skin grafts. Walter’s recovery was a testament to his resilience and the dedicated care he received.

After enduring so much pain, Walter’s spirit began to shine through once he received proper treatment and pain management. Gamliel noted, “Dogs are stoic creatures, and once he had proper pain medication, it made him feel a lot better.”

Walter’s story continued to inspire as he transitioned from his foster home to a permanent one. The Osbourne family, touched by Walter’s story, offered him a forever home. They went through the standard adoption process to ensure they were the right fit. In May 2024, Walter officially became the newest member of the Osbourne family.

“The Osbournes reached out to us and let us know that they had a bulldog and they wanted to be the ones who made up for all the bad in Walter’s life and give him the life he deserves,” Gamliel shared. “We put them through the same adoption interview we would put anybody through, and of course, they passed the interview because they were qualified, not because of what they do for a living.”

Since moving in with the Osbournes, Walter has been thriving. He even made a guest appearance on The Osbournes Podcast, showcasing his remarkable recovery. The TikTok community responded with overwhelming Support, with Walter’s videos garnering over 23,100 views and more than 2,820 likes. The comment section was filled with heartfelt messages, such as, “He looks so good now! Poor baby,” and “Thank you for saving that beautiful boy.”

Gamliel expressed her gratitude for the widespread Support Walter received. “In his initial video, you can see the pain that he’s suffering, you can see it in his eyes and his expression. Watching him experience that kind of pain and imagining what he was going through, people were heartbroken for him.”

Walter’s journey from a stray with life-threatening injuries to a beloved pet in a celebrity household is a testament to the power of compassion and the resilience of animals. His story continues to inspire and bring hope to those who follow his progress.
