Brave Cow Escapes Slaughterhouse Truck in NYC – Then Gets Rescued by Jon and Tracey Stewart!

A brave cow named Frank Lee was en route to the slaughterhouse in Jamaica, Queens, when he decided to make a run for freedom. So he took a chance, hopped out of the truck, and bolted straight for the nearest green pasture in sight – the campus of York College. Little did he know that by making this escape, he’d get to spend the weekend with the amazing Jon and Tracey Stewart!

When Frank arrived on campus, he was quickly wrangled by NYPD officers and even shot at with a tranquilizer. After being subdued, he was transported to the Animal Care Center of NYC (ACC) in Brooklyn. Farm Sanctuary quickly notified Jon and Tracey Stewart about Frank’s journey, said Sylvia Moskovitz with the Watkins Glen shelter in New York. After they negotiated a voluntary release, the Stewarts drove all the way up from their home in New Jersey to meet Frank in Brooklyn!

Once they picked him, Frank got to spend the weekend at their family farm, Bufflehead. Frank really lucked out, getting to pass the weekend with such a compassionate comedian! And after a lovely pit stop with the Stewarts, he’s now heading up to Cornell University Hospital for Animals for a routine checkup. After the visit, he’ll spend the rest of his days roaming the 175 acres of green, lounging around with fifty bovine friends upstate at the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen.

We’re so inspired by the Stewarts’ dedication and love for animals of all shapes and sizes. Most of all, we admire Frank’s determination to escape his fate and take a risk by escaping the truck! Go Frank!!!
