Border Terrier Found 100 Miles Away from Boarding Kennel Where She Went Missing

The story of a tiny Border Terrier named Lucky has mystified her humans. Lucky was left at a boarding kennel in Bern, Switzerland by her humans over a holiday. The 14-year-old small dog managed to escape the kennel through a hole in their fence. Her humans were frantic with worry about the small dog. A Border Terrier is a smaller dog described as hardworking and affectionate by the American Kennel Club. However, despite their sturdy nature, they are a smaller breed who are only capable of walking around eight miles.

Amazingly, Lucky was found about 100 miles away in Geneva, Switzerland. Someone found the little pup sitting by the side of the road and called the police. Fortunately, Lucky was microchipped. This meant that the police were able to contact the humans who came to retrieve her. They were overjoyed to see her and happy to find her uninjured. Despite her adventure, Lucky had only a few ticks and seemed otherwise unharmed and healthy.

No one is sure how the Border Terrier was able to cover such a far distance in the time she was missing. She was only gone a short time, making it unlikely that she covered the distance on foot. More likely, the friendly pup was picked up by someone in a car who drove her the 100 miles. This is the most likely explanation for how she made the trip from Bern to Geneva in such a short time, without injury. Lucky’s microchip allowed her to be reunited with her family. Remember, it is always important to have animal companions microchipped. It could be the key to being reunited should they go missing.
