It might surprise you to know that there are 70 million homeless pets living in the U.S. Some of these animals were abandoned by their guardians, others were born stray, but they all share the need for a loving home and family. Only a small fraction of these animals will find their way into a shelter and of those that do, an even smaller percentage will be adopted. Thankfully, there are many amazing rescue organizations who are working to give homeless animals a fighting chance.
This video features a rescue from Hope for Paws. When rescuers got a call that there was a stray dog roaming around a neighborhood in California, they set out to help. It was discovered that the poor pup had gone blind in one eye and was in need of immediate care. Luckily, with the help of the Veterinary Care Center, the dog, who had been named Phannie, underwent surgery that restored her full eyesight! The next step for this resilient pooch is to find a forever home!
You can help Phannie find her new family, check out Smooch Pooch Rescue, here.
