Bats are typically considered “scary,” associated with vampires and other spooky creatures. In reality, these animals are not only super adorable, but very important members of their ecosystems.
This handsome bat is a fruit bat. Also known as a flying fox, these animals are native to Australia. Unfortunately, when nectar and pollen are in short supply, these bats look for food in suburban gardens. As a result, many of these animals get trapped in nets meant to protect fruit from hungry animals like themselves.
This little guy fell victim to this fate. Luckily, after getting trapped in a net, he was rescued by a bat rehabilitator.
Though he was feisty when he first came into contact with his rescuers, the moment he saw the banana, he was ready for love, attention and, of course, that glorious piece of fruit! Now this bat is getting the luxury treatment before he is released back into the wild.
Good luck, little bat!
