Kangaroo joeys spend most of their time comfortably nestled in their mother’s pouch. But Crystal the kangaroo was separated from her mother in a tragic twist of fate. Luckily, she was found by The Kangaroo Sanctuary at Alice Springs, an organization that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned kangaroos.
Like human babies, joeys are reliant on their moms for care and protection. Sadly, humans don’t have cute little pouches for keeping orphaned animals safe and warm (wouldn’t that be awesome). But working with animals teaches people how to find creative solutions to unusual problems! Whenever baby crystal wants to snatch a quick nap, her foster dad Brolga wraps her up in a nice cloth pouch. The sack makes her feel safe and protected, and we get to see her do an adorable tumble!
