Sloth expert, Slothville creator, and award-winning videographer and TV producer Lucy Cooke just released a compilation video of squealing baby sloths to celebrate the release of her new children’s book, “The Power of Sloth.”
The minute-long clip features rescued orphaned sloths at the AIUNAU and Aviaros sloth sanctuaries in Colombia and Costa Rica. We already knew that baby sloths are eerily infant-like, but this video shows how much they sound like human babies, too! Pretty creepy, in the cutest possible way.
Lucy resents the sloth’s negative reputation as a lazy and stupid creature, and sees their slow lifestyle as a virtue. “As busy bipedal apes, I believe we have much to learn from their energy-saving ways… being fast is over-rated,” she says.
I think Lucy is onto something. These sloths look like they’re having a great time, and judging from their big smiles, it seems their slow-moving habits are the secret to true happiness.
