Plants have an amazing ability to help humans prosper in more ways than one. Eating a diet rich in plants can help us not only live longer, but also live healthier and happier lives. For most of us, that information isn’t anything new; we know eating fresh, whole foods gives us more energy and a better chance of steering clear of the medical system.
However, how many of you have ever thought about the other ways plants can help humans prosper?
There are a host of beautiful, affordable indoor plants available on the popular market that are said to have powerful effects in helping people prosper. Whether it be money, luck or health, the following plants have earned a reputation for bestowing these on those who care for them: the Money Tree, Lucky Bamboo and the Peace Lily. For some, their powers are understood on a spiritual or cultural level.
The idea behind such plants is that their unique presence breathes positive energy into your home, clearing out negativity and opening the door for opportunity–whatever it may be. For others, like the Peace Lily, their power to help humans prosper has been studied and measured scientifically.
Let’s take a look at these three plants:
1. The Malabar Chestnut, or, The Feng Shui Money Tree
One of the most popular of plants in feng shui practices, The Money Tree is known for increasing and “locking in,” or securing, luck and prosperity for those who possess it. This “locking in” is aptly symbolized by the braided trunk of the tree. What’s more is that this tree, under the right humid conditions, will both flower and produce edible nuts. So even though it will never actually grow money, it certainly is a tree that keeps on giving.
Your Good News:
The Money Tree is hearty, needing only low-light indoors or shade outdoors and watering every 7-10 days.
2. Draecena, or, Lucky Bamboo
Now this is a plant with some history! Lucky bamboo has been used for over 5,000 years in traditional feng shui practices. It is said to “bring a very peaceful and wise energy into your home;” it also “teaches the ultimate wisdom: how to be flexible and hollow (open) on the inside, so that the spirit can freely flow and heal your being.” For all of those reasons and more, lucky bamboo is extremely popular in Western culture now, too. Offices and homes alike are adorned with the plant said to bring us health, love, and of course, luck. Aside from the promise of prosperity, this plant offers a vibrant green accent to any space.
Your Good News:
Lucky Bamboo, like all bamboo and the money tree, is extremely robust. It hardly requires any care at all. Some low-light and purified or distilled water is all it needs to thrive. Plus, it can grow up to one inch per month in the right conditions.
3. Spathiphyllum, or, The Peace Lily
This deep green plant with gorgeous bright white blooms helps humans prosper by significantly improving their indoor air quality, helping to prevent asthma, headaches, chronic illness, cancers and more. The Peace Lily does all that simply by being there in your home. It can detox your air of the following toxins: formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide. It cleanses the air of cigarette smoke, paint and furniture fumes and more.
Your Good News:
These plants are also super easy to care for. They like shaded or even dark environments best, making them great for basement suites, small offices and even corner closets.
Plants have the ability to help humans prosper spiritually, mentally and physically. Plus, they go with any decor, can be easily obtained and displayed, and can be used to create new plants, too. Do you have any plants in your home that you enjoy keeping on hand?
