Need a fresh new look idea? Give your lips an extra bit of pizazz with this organic vegan lip tint recipe!
The natural color of this organic vegan lip tint recipe is from organic beet root powder. While it comes out looking like a deep burgundy or rust red in the pot, it’s actually a gorgeous shade of red on your lips!

Begin by measuring out the carnauba wax and illipe butter using a teaspoon and tablespoon measurement. The wax comes in flakes so it should be ready to measure immediately. As the illipe butter is solid at room temp, you will want to grate it in order to measure it. Next, place four teaspoons of carnauba wax in a glass measuring cup and melt in 1-minute increments on reduced power in the microwave. When the wax is melted about half way, add one Tablespoon of the illipe butter and continuing melting. (Alternately you can also use a double boiler on the stove.)
Once the wax and butter have melted fully, measure out the avocado oil and sweet almond oil and pour into the mixture. Stir well. If necessary, place back in the microwave for an additional 30 seconds or so to re-melt if the mixture starts to solidify when you add the liquid oils. Then using a glass dropper or pipette, measure out and add the essential of your choice – I actually used 3 parts organic lime peel essential oil and 1 part chocolate flavor oil for mine – and mix well.
The final step in creating your lip tint is to add the red beet root powder. You will need to mix this really, really well otherwise you will have clumps of beet powder throughout your lip stain. Once mixed, pour into your choice of lip balm pots or using a glass dropper to fill lip balm tubes. Cap and allow to cool completely. Then use and enjoy!
