Vegan Fashion Week was launched in 2019 and centers on high fashion wear from cruelty-free designers. This year’s event took place from October 8th through October 10th at Downtown Los Angeles’s California Market Center. In addition to allowing animal-free designers to showcase their work, Vegan Fashion Week also aims to Support designers as they transition towards more environmentally sustainable practices. The group advocates for systemic change within the fashion industry to benefit animals, people, and the environment. Vegan Fashion Week hopes to highlight “ethical luxury” as the future of fashion.

Amazing designers and brands were showcased at the 2023 Vegan Fashion Week. The show was well attended by celebrities, including Tara Reid, Caylee Cowan, Jay Shetty, and Richa Moorjani.

This year’s Vegan Fashion Week highlighted the growing popularity of the vegan fashion movement by featuring designers from around the world. Dutch designer Suzanne Harper’s brand, A Perfect Jane featured sustainable footwear crafted from apple fiber. The brand’s boots were paired with upcycled and vintage clothing pieces styled and curated by Emmanuella Rienda.

Following the Dutch footwear brand came French designer Guillaume Larquemain. His self-named line featured a ready-to-wear collection as well as canvas bags, also crafted from apple fibers. The gender-fluid line was crafted in Normandy, where Larquemain is from.

Rounding out the show was Los Angeles-based brand Nikki Green. This brand emphasized the luxury nature of vegan fashion. Founded by influencer Dominique Side and stylist Christian Allen, the show featured red-carpet dresses, suit silhouettes, and tops.

Global demand for vegan fashion is expected to reach a market value of 835 billion dollars by 2023, according to the Vegan Fashion Week’s website. This growing demand underscores increasing awareness of animal rights and desire for fashion which is free of animal exploitation. Additionally, the demand for transparent sustainability practices within the fashion industry is growing rapidly.
