When it comes to caring for your skin, it’s important to focus energy on moisturizing.
Yes, dry skin, in essence, is harmless, yet when excessive dry skin is left untreated it can lead to various unpleasant symptoms — such as itching, flaking, peeling, redness, fine lines, and even a rough feel and look — as well as cause prone individuals to develop eczema or atopic dermatitis, which is characterized by “redness, cracking, and inflammation.”
Therefore, as the dry winter months creep forward or if you simply live in a dry climate, it’s important to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!
While body balm, butter, and/or lotion are essential for a skincare routine if you’re really looking for long-lasting, locked-in moisture give oils a try. Body oils have a “locking and protective nature,” while also improving “cell cohesion, meaning that they can limit transepidermal water loss.” Plus, body oils are generally lightweight, absorbed quickly, and are grease-free. Of course, it’s all about using the product correctly, so make sure you get the low down before applying!
If you’re down to give body oils a try yet skeptical that you won’t be able to find an eco-friendly, vegan brand, here are a few to get you started!

I don’t use it much in the mornings because it’s a bit oily but if my skin is feeling dry I do put it to use. I’m in my early thirties and went through my acne stage in my mid-twenties which unfortunately left some scarring on my cheeks. This line has definitely helped my skin out! I have super sensitive skin and have not had any issues with this line. I’m very light skin which is a bummer when it comes to wrinkles but I have no worries at this time and always get compliments of looking much younger, I’d like to thank this line of products for that.”

Amazon Customer says “This Rose-Hip oil is a delight. I have been using essential oils on my face with success but I have now switched to Poppy Austin Organic Rose-hip Oil and I am so glad I have. I used to work in a high-end skin store where essential oils in smaller quantity sold for $175.00 I promise I can not tell the difference between the highly marketed oil I mentioned and this lovely product. I live in high altitude—- a ski town, where the air is particularly dry. Every girl and woman I know complains bitterly about our atmosphere. It’s a challenge. BUT since I have been using this product, I have found that my skin retains moisture throughout the day and evening. I apply over my face after I use the Poppy Austin Rosewater. I then use a sunscreen (sunscreens can be by nature very drying—-so yes, you save your skin from UV but the result looks dry.) and a tinted makeup. When I use the PA Rose-hip oil my face retains the moisture all day, no matter what I layer over it. TRULY. I am a convert!”
