Whale diving in Iceland

Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.

Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including Help Hold Man Accountable Who Sawed Off Puppies’ Legs, Help End Whale Hunting in Iceland, and Urge the World Bank to Fund Climate Solutions.

We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

1. Help Hold Man Accountable Who Sawed Off Puppies’ Paws and Legs

A man in Texas has been charged with several counts of animal cruelty after it was discovered that he sawed the legs and paws off of several puppies while they were still alive. Another female adult dog was found dead on the property. Please sign this petition to urge authorities to hold this animal abuser accountable and never allow him to be near nonhuman animals again!

2. Urge Countries Around the World to Ban Single-Use Plastics

Several places around the world have banned or restricted the use of single-use plastics, yet the world is creating more plastic waste each year. On top of this, recycling often doesn’t happen, and the plastics will end up in landfills instead. Only about 20 corporations create most single-use plastics, and oil companies, which wreak havoc on the environment in other ways, are at the top of that list. Please sign this petition to urge countries around the world to ban single-use plastics!

3. Urge US Lawmakers to Support a Green New Deal

Climate scientists agree that Climate change is the primary cause of our wildfire crisis. On top of that, rising global temperatures can increase the risk of heat strokes, droughts, pandemics, and a slew of other issues. Individuals can do their part to decrease their carbon footprint, but systemic change is also required. Please sign this petition to pressure US lawmakers to Support a Green New Deal!

4. Help End Whale Hunting in Iceland

Iceland recently suspended its whale hunt this year after a study showed that whales suffer tremendously when they are murdered. Whales shot with harpoons can take up to two hours to die. Japan, Iceland, and Norway are the only countries in the world that allow commercial whaling, and that needs to stop now. Please sign this petition to urge Iceland to ban this practice once and for all!

5. Urge the World Bank to Fund Climate Solutions

In Texas, tens of thousands of fish have washed ashore on the Gulf Coast. This tragic event was most likely caused by Climate change, as rising ocean temperatures can create low oxygen levels in the water. We cannot allow events like this to keep happening without taking action. Please sign this petition to urge the World Bank to help fund climate solutions now!

6. Tell Russian Authorities to Accept Aid Deliveries for the Dam Breach Disaster

The Kakhovka dam breach in Ukraine has been an ecological disaster. Thousands of Russians and Ukrainians have had to evacuate their homes. On top of that, many people are without clean water and health services. Yet the United Nations has stated that Russia has blocked aid to Moscow-controlled areas affected by flooding. Please sign this petition to urge Russian authorities to accept aid deliveries!

7. Demand CNN Commit to Fair Reporting on the Norfolk Southern Disaster

Recently, one of CNN’s political commentators, David Urban, was engaged in a roundtable discussion on the Norfolk Southern train derailment. What wasn’t mentioned, however, was that Urban was a former lobbyist for Norfolk Southern and that some of the corporations that own CNN also own Norfolk Southern. It’s vitally important that this train derailment disaster must be reported accurately, especially for the victims of the affected communities. Please sign this petition to urge CNN to be more transparent and report on the facts of the Norfolk Southern disaster!

8. Pledge to Vote for Democrats This Election

As midterm elections approach, Americans have an important choice to make. Republicans are more likely to ignore human-caused Climate change, be against abortion and LGBTQ rights, and are even willing to put children’s lives at risk by not voting for gun safety laws. On top of that, many Republican governors haven’t even shown up to debate their opponents, which doesn’t seem to be very pro-democracy. Please sign this petition to pledge to vote for Democratic leaders this coming election!

9. Urge Congress to Vote for Reparations

Two weeks ago, many people in the United States celebrated Juneteenth, which marks the day the last of the slaves were freed. Slaves helped build the White House, the Capitol building, and even the Statue of Freedom in the Capitol. Yet even after they were released from slavery, African-Americans have been marginalized, segregated, jailed, and brutalized by police brutality. We can’t undo everything that has been done to this community, but there is something that can help them begin to heal and prosper. Please sign this petition to urge Congress to vote for reparations!

10. Urge the UK to Expunge the Records of LGBTQ+ People Convicted of Homophobic Laws

Since 2012, only British men were allowed to apply to remove convictions of “being gay” on their records. Now women are allowed to apply too, but some individuals may not be aware of this legal change, the bureaucratic process involved can be very tedious, and many individuals have even had their applications rejected. Please sign this petition to urge the UK to expunge all these records immediately!
