No Mow May is an amazing campaign that started in the town of Appleton, Wisconsin, and now people all over the country are participating! The plan is to avoid cutting your grass throughout the entire month of May to allow native flowers to bloom and provide pollinators like bees with an early forage.
Yards are destroying the vital source of nectar for bees and threatening their vulnerable population. In addition to benefiting pollinators, pledging to reduce the frequency of mowing will save water and reduce emissions from gas-powered lawn equipment.

In just one week of the No Mow May initiative in Appleton, a sample of no-mow may lawns indicated there was a fivefold increase in bee abundance and a threefold increase in bee diversity compared to nearby parkland that was mowed regularly. Sign this petition to pledge that you will help protect bees by not mowing your lawn in May!
