Karen Davis, PhD is president of United Poultry Concerns, a nonprofit that promotes compassion and respect for domestic fowl. Her books include Prisoned Chickens, Poisoned Eggs: An Inside Look at the Modern Poultry Industry and More Than a Meal: The Turkey in History, Myth, Ritual, and Reality. Her work was profiled in “For the Birds” in The Washington Post and she’s in the Animal Rights Hall of Fame “for outstanding contributions to animal liberation.” www.upc-online.org/karenbio.htm
