Once you fall in love with an animal, it’s pretty difficult to give them up. Even if you go in knowing the situation is short-term, you might come out another foster failure. That’s okay! So many of us have fared that fate. However, sometimes this situation can cause a bit of an issue at home. For Mike, attachment to a cat he was only supposed to be fostering almost took a toll on his marriage.
One day, Mike Enders saw a post on social media about a three-legged cat that was going to be euthanized if he wasn’t picked up from the shelter that day. The shelter was an eight-hour drive away, but after looking at the kitten’s photo, Mike knew he had to pick the little guy up. He drove from San Francisco to Palm Springs to get his new foster kitten, Zorro.
Mike was already in love with Zorro and continued to bond with him more and more, but unfortunately, Mike’s husband was adamant about not getting any more cats. They already had two and he did not want to adopt a third. Mike made a half-hearted effort to get Zorro adopted, knowing he was too attached to give up his little tripod cat, but eventually announced that Zorro would be staying with them.
Fortunately, Zorro has been bonding with Mike’s husband and is loving his forever home! You can keep up with Zorro on his Instagram, @zorrothetripodkitty!
