Mutual Rescue is an organization that highlights the connection between people and animals in order to encourage animal rescue and adoption. Some of the stories they’ve shared in the past have gone viral, like their short film, Eric & Peety. Their latest short film, Patrick & Grace, tells the story of a young athlete who suffered a debilitating stroke recovering alongside his adopted abused pit bull.
Grace was badly abused before Patrick and his girlfriend Alexia adopted her. She came into their lives bruised, scarred, and scared. After Patrick suffered his stroke, he was inspired by her beautiful recovery and joy for life to give his all to his own recovery. They helped each other get better and recovered from the hardest times of their lives together.
Their story can also be read in Mutual Rescue’s founder Carol Novello’s new book Mutual Rescue: How Adopting a Homeless Pet Can Help You Too. As Novello says, “saving shelter animals is as life changing for the person adopting as it is for the animal.”
