Harry and Henrietta are two bats who were recently saved from a serious predicament – the flying foxes got caught in fruit netting that was thrown over a lime tree. Flying foxes are also called fruit bats, so understandably, Harry and Henrietta were very keen on the juicy limes and aimed to put the fruit on that day’s menu. Unfortunately, the foray ended in an accident, but thanks to their rescuer, Louella from Batzilla the Bat, both are going to be fine.
As Louella cut through the net wrapped around him, Harry the bat was amazingly patient and calm. He did not even twitch throughout the whole process; he only looked around curiously with his huge bright eyes. “Mr. Harry is such a gentle boy and there is not a doubt in my mind that he knew we were there to help him escape his imprisonment in the netting,” the rescuer wrote.
The bats’ rescuer also replaced the dangerous large netting with a hail guard, which is safe for wildlife and will prevent any other bats from getting caught!
Thanks to the intervention, the two flying foxes are now safe and will be ready to get back into the wild soon!
If you ever come across an animal in need, it is always best to consult a professional before taking action. Bats are especially sensitive and can carry diseases that are harmful to people, so please do not act unless you have proper instructions!
