Two dogs were found starving at a man’s home in Western Australia after repeated warnings from vets and inspectors were ignored. Despite free weekly weigh ins and clear instructions to increase food, the dogs Morley and Waldo continued to waste away. One was given a body condition score of just two out of nine, with inspectors describing him as a walking skeleton. This level of neglect nearly killed them.
The man was charged with animal cruelty and failure to comply with inspection orders and received a five year ban on animal ownership. But temporary bans do not stop repeat abuse. When someone refuses help and allows animals to starve, the risk to future pets is clear. Animals are not disposable, and neglect is a serious form of violence.
