Veterinarians found a deep slice around Frankie’s neck measuring about 8.5 inches long and roughly 1.5 inches deep, cutting into muscle tissue. The wound had become badly infected and was filled with pus and drainage. Frankie was also emaciated, with his ribs clearly visible. A good Samaritan alerted authorities, and the dog underwent a two hour surgery to treat the injury.
