Fish Friends Delight Internet with Underwater Chase

A video posted to the TikTok account @kate19469 has received over 761,000 likes and reminded people that beautiful friendships are not just limited to mammals! In the video, two beautiful blue fish can be seen gracefully swimming around each other in a circular pattern. The video was taken at the Florida Aquarium located in Tampa, Florida. TikTok viewers loved the video of the two friendly fish. While many tagged their friends in the comments of the video, others thought that the fish were “in love”.

Although these viral fish friends live in an aquarium, in the wild many species of fish form complex social networks. These networks may help them find food, or avoid predators. Additionally, studies have shown evidence that fish do form friendships with each other. Just like mammals, fish are sentient beings who possess a wide range of emotions and experience pain.
