Couple Arrested After Las Vegas Police Find 42 Dead Animals in Their Home

The Boulder City police uncovered a terrible scene of neglect and cruelty during an ongoing investigation into animal abuse and hoarding. The story, unfolding like a nightmare, paints a grim picture of the consequences of unchecked animal hoarding.

In March, the authorities arrested Carolyn Luke, 72, and Timothy Miller, 79, in connection with multiple animal abuse charges. The gravity of their actions came to light when officers stumbled upon a distressing sight – dozens of deceased animals concealed within a freezer in the confines of a cluttered home.

The trail of evidence leading to this discovery began with a routine traffic stop prompted by a broken taillight. What initially seemed like a mundane encounter took a dark turn when officers detected a foul odor emanating from the vehicle, accompanied by telltale signs of animal fur strewn across the interior. This prompted a deeper investigation, uncovering a distressing truth.

In total, 51 guinea pigs and rabbits, including 11 deceased animals, were found in their possession during the traffic stop. Shockingly, this was just the tip of the iceberg. Subsequent searches at their Las Vegas residence and a nearby hotel revealed an even grimmer reality – a staggering number of animals living in squalid conditions, with many succumbing to neglect and mistreatment. Inside their hotel room was a harrowing scene – 39 guinea pigs, 21 live dogs, and 12 deceased dogs, their suffering a silent testament to the horrors they endured. The stench of death lingered, a stark reminder of the agony these animals endured in silence.

Further investigations led to the discovery of a southwest valley home teeming with more animals – 21 live dogs, 38 guinea pigs, and 12 deceased dogs. The most chilling find, however, was in their kitchen – a freezer with the remains of 42 deceased animals.

The narrative that unfolded revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior – a desperate attempt to conceal the extent of their hoarding, driven by a misguided sense of attachment to the animals they claimed as their own. Miller’s reference to the animals as “her babies” underscores the complex psychology underlying animal hoarding, where compassion mutates into a twisted form of possession. Luke and Miller now face the repercussions of their actions, confronting a litany of animal abuse-related charges that speak to the magnitude of their offenses.
