In Compton, Los Angeles approximately 100 neglected and mistreated animals found care after a rescue operation on January 3rd, 2024. The animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, a rooster, tortoise, turtles, pigs, snakes, a horse, a hamster, rabbits, a hawk, and lizards were liberated from an illegal animal care facility following multiple complaints from concerned members of the community.
The Compton Animal Rescue, previously under suspicion for neglect and mistreatment, fell under the scrutiny of the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) after reports surfaced about the dire conditions within the facility. In a swift response to the calls, authorities executed three search warrants, uncovering a distressing scene. Tragically, the rescue mission revealed the grim reality of the situation: 13 animals were found dead on arrival, and a significant number were too debilitated by neglect to be saved.
However, amidst the despair, the rescued animals received the medical attention they so desperately needed. Through the dedication and compassion of the DACC, these once-neglected creatures were nursed back to health and deemed fit for adoption into loving homes.
