On September 23, actress and activist, Natalie Portman, will be honored with an Ongoing Commitment Award at the 27th annual Environmental Media Association (EMA) awards benefit taking place in Los Angeles.
Portman went vegan in 2009 after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s book Eating Animals, and is actually slated to voice narrate a new film based on the book.
“I chose to adapt to a sustainable lifestyle after learning of the health risks and environmental effects that come with the mass production of animals,” Portman told Forbes. “To receive this honor is a valuable reminder to me that I am not alone in this fight.”
We think Portman totally has it right! In honor of Portman’s upcoming award we decided to hunt through our Food Monster App to bring you some copycat recipes of vegan dishes Portman has stated in the past that she loves to eat. Check them out below!

This delicious Summer Watermelon Salad by Karielyn Tillman is a light salad with a light vinaigrette but has lots of nutrients from the hemp seeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.
Portman has said that she relies on stacks of pancakes and veggie burgers to fuel her before heading out to events where she’s not sure she’ll like the food options.

These are the best veggie burgers you’ll ever make, with only five ingredients! A burger made with roasted cauliflower and lentils, topped with a homemade maple tahini sauce.

This is the best vegan pancake recipe you will ever make. You deserve it. To make this soy free, use soy-free vegan butter.
Additionally, Portman has spoken out about her love for tofu and black beans.

These burgers are so good. They taste more like beefy burgers than bean burgers. The texture is crispy on the outside, especially if you let them build up a crust while cooking like this blogger did, but tender on the inside and just so delicious.
