More vegan options at Trader Joe’s!? Yes, please! With nearly 500 locations across the United States, there is no shortage of affordable vegan options to be found at Trader Joe’s. And now they have added a high protein veggie burger to their line up!

The two large patties ring up for $3.49 and boasts 26 grams of pea protein! We love seeing more and more affordable plant-based items hit the mainstream.

Not familiar with pea protein? Due to concerns about health, sustainability, animal welfare, or allergen issues related to soy and nuts, pea protein has become a huge contender to replace animal protein in the food world (even Hollywood director, James Cameron is betting on pea protein!). Last year, the global pea protein market was projected to reach 34.8 million dollars by the year 2020. And according to a recent report released by Zion Market Research, it is expected to reach above $39.50 million by 2022 with a compound annual growth rate of eight percent.

This commitment to expanding protein to include plant-based options is undoubtedly a great move for the planet. The industrial animal agriculture system is one of the most environmentally destructive industries on the planet and we need to start shifting away from animal proteins and towards plant-based alternatives, if we want to create a truly sustainable food system that will be able to support our growing population. With this in mind, seeing all of the new plant-based alternatives coming to the market to meet virtually every consumer’s needs and wants is extremely heartening.

Looks like the question of where you get your protein from if you eat plant-based foods, is quickly going out of date. If you’re looking for more plant-based options you can find at Trader Joe’s, click here. And if you’re looking for vegan Thanksgiving options at Trader Joe’s, be sure to check out this article.

That's overpriced for 2 patties. Are they gluten free as well? SO many vegan products aren't
