Wild tigers are some of the most majestic creatures on the planet. Unfortunately, these beautiful animals are greatly endangered due to habitat loss and poaching, and they are also very susceptible to the illegal wildlife trade. Once they enter the vicious cycle of this illicit trade, they often end up as exotic pets.

Luckily, there are organizations, like Four Paws International, who not only rescue these animals from dire situations, but provide them with an enriching environment where they are mentally stimulated, can run and play, and are able to enjoy simple pleasures they were denied before.

Cara, the tigress in the video, was rescued from Naples, Italy, where she was confined in a windowless 64-square-foot shed. Well, those days are long behind her! Now Cara resides at the Big Cat Station, a sanctuary opened by the animal protection association “Tierart.” Here Cara gets to reclaim her life and enjoy wide open spaces, her own private pool, and the companionship of other tigers. We hope one day all tigers are retired into havens like this.
