2 Rescue Dogs Get Hitched in Adorable Backyard Wedding (PHOTOS)

Oh young love! It just melts your heart, doesn’t it? Some people call it puppy love, but of course to this young couple, that is precisely what it is! Meet Teddy and Lucy, two rescue dogs who live with a human who just so happens to be a professional photographer. Kathryn Yeaton is the owner of Brave Hearts Photography, a Norwalk, Connecticut based company. In an effort to promote her business, Yeaton regularly dressed up her two pups and took their picture, but after posting a photo of Lucy and Teddy as bride and groom, something clicked.

Teddy and Lucy share a very special bond, and the  more she thought about it, the more staging a pooch wedding for the two didn’t seem like such a crazy idea. So, naturally, Yeaton put on her party planner hat, picked up her camera and with a hand full of treats, Teddy and Lucy’s “wedding” went underway!

In an interview with Today.com, Yeaton explained, “It was only a matter of time before I realized I had a white dog and black-and-white dog, and they looked too perfect as a bride and groom.”

We wonder if Teddy had any trepidations walking down the isle…probably not, because it was lined with treats!

Lucy is a three year-old American Eskimo who was adopted from a shelter in Tennessee. Teddy is a one year-old Border Collie mix who was adopted when he was only 12 weeks old.

When Teddy was first adopted, Lucy wasn’t so sure about him, but overtime, the pair bonded.

Their love story begins with a bit of tragedy. In 2014, Lucy was attacked by another dog and needed to go into emergency surgery. Teddy was so worried, he didn’t leave her side the entire time.

Yeaton decked out their backyard wedding with every detail of an authentic wedding. The hors d’oeuvres were made of mango, mint, and papaya. She explains to Today.com, “They love to eat fruit.”

The spread was absolutely beautiful. How Yeaton got Teddy and Lucy to focus on their pup-tuals when surrounded with gourmet doggy treats is quite impressive.

Yeaton explained to Today.com, “They’re both really good dogs…Obedient? Not so much.”

Lucy and Teddy have been working with a trainer and have all but mastered the art of “stay,” which made the shoot a bit easier…that and Yeaton’s husband was armed with treats for distraction. 

The happy couple celebrated the ending to their faux marriage by chowing down on some homemade “pup” cakes made with shredded carrots and other dog-friendly ingredients. We bet they’re hoping the honeymoon is filled with just as many snacks!
