Brave People Venture Out Onto Frozen Lake to Rescue Trapped Moose (VIDEO)

Winter can be a beautiful time of the year. From sledding and skiing to hot cocoa, there are many ways to celebrate the cooler months. But for our animal friends, winter can be very dangerous and sometimes they need a helping hand.

Cats and dogs are at risk of frostbite and hypothermia when they are left outdoors during extreme cold snaps. Exposed skin on noses, ears, and paw pads can quickly freeze and suffer permanent damage. Just recently, a mall in Turkey opened their doors to let homeless dogs sleep inside so that they could escape the cold. And now, we have yet another story to share featuring kind people helping an animal caught in winter’s way.

This time a moose was stuck in a frozen lake. As seen in the above video, when people noticed the moose making unsuccessful attempts to get out, they broke up the ice with an ax to free the gentle giant. Thankfully, they were able to break up the ice enough so that the moose could maneuver out of the water and onto dry land. We are so thankful these compassionate people didn’t turn a blind eye but instead decided to stop and help.
