We never fail to be amazed by the incredible patterns and designs we find in the natural world. While we might think that humans are the only species capable of creating beautiful art, nature certainly is able to hold its own and produce some of the most awe-inspiring things we’ve ever seen.
Just take this group of starlings for example. When these birds migrate, they travel in flocks by the thousand and form what is called a murmuration. Starlings are very small birds, so they travel in massive groups as a survival tactic. The sight of this enormous swarm might be a bit terrifying to begin with, but once you take a step back and see the fantastic patterns the birds make as they fly, that fear turns to wonder.
This truly is a mesmerizing phenomenon to watch. We can only imagine what it would be like to see this happen overheard. Nature sure is amazing.
