Grace Anne is a loving, friendly four-month-old Mastiff currently at the overcrowded Harris County Animal Shelter located in Houston, Texas. Her previous guardians dumped the little one at the shelter simply because Grace Anne got sick and they didn’t want to take care of her. Unbelievable!
Sadly, at no fault of her own, Grace Anne has Demodex mange, a common infestation of a puppy’s skin, where tiny mites live and feed in the hair follicles and oil glands. Her skin is itchy and has turned bright pink, she’s nearly bald and what’s left of her coat has turned yellow. Besides the painful mange, she also has a secondary skin infection that will need to be treated.
We certainly don’t think Grace Anne is “ugly” and she shouldn’t get passed over! At just four-months-old, Grace Anne still has a long life ahead of her and would make a great companion. If you or someone you know is interested in this sweetheart, call Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services at (281) 999-3191 and ask for information about animal ID # A486553.
Please always spay and neuter your pets and urge your friends and family to do the same. For more ways on how you can get involved to help save animals, click here.

I rescued a dog that someone had left in a cardboard box beside an irrigation canal. He had mange too. Nowadays they can give them a shot that kills the mange mites and the animal does not have to go through being dipped. My dog is very attractive and is now 11 yrs old. So glad I have him. The last animal I rescued turned out to be a Maine Coon Spay and is now 5 yrs old and 17 lbs. He is very beautiful and his vet always calls him handsome.
Thank you, Linda! I was trying to work out how to get her to Atlanta from Houston, but if you have a loving home for her, bless your heart!
