Animal testing has long been a shameful practice of society, and despite technological advances and widespread public scrutiny of the abuse of animals in laboratories, animal testing is still very common. Most people think of rodents or primates when they hear about animals in laboratories, but dogs are used in experiments in many laboratories around the world.
Thankfully, Animal rights organizations like Humane Society International (HSI) are fighting to end the outdated practices of animal testing. According to a petition on Care2 written by HSI, animal tests for pesticides and insect repellants are required by the law in many countries. HSI has been focused on a particular year-long experiment that occurs in Japan and South Korea, where dogs are force-fed daily doses of pesticides, either in pill form or laced in food.
HSI reports that the scientific basis for this experiment has been widely discredited, and HSI has convinced the U.S., India, Brazil, Canada, and the EU to stop requiring this test. Please sign this petition to help push Japan and South Korea to join these countries in ending this cruel use of animals.
If you are grateful for HSI’s tireless efforts in saving innocent lives all around the world, please visit their website and consider making a donation if you can. They would not be able to do this incredible work without the Support of dedicated animal advocates like you. Please share this with friends and encourage them to join you in signing the petition to help save the lives of the millions of animals in laboratories!
