Plant Power Fast Food is revolutionizing the classic American BBQ rib sandwich with the launch of The Ribby, a plant-based alternative that promises the same indulgent flavors. Starting July 2nd, The Ribby will be available at all ten Plant Power locations, just in time for summer.
The Ribby features a housemade plant-based patty made from shredded jackfruit, renowned for its meat-like texture. This patty is generously coated in a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce, complemented by thinly sliced onions and Grillo’s Pickles, celebrated for their fresh and all-natural ingredients.
Zach Vouga, president and COO of Plant Power, shared his enthusiasm for this new addition: “The BBQ rib sandwich holds a legendary place in fast food history, and we wanted to honor that legacy with our plant-based take. With our sweet and smoky housemade BBQ and the best pickles in the world, Grillo’s, we believe The Ribby will offer an unforgettable flavor experience.”
Plant Power Fast Food has rapidly expanded since opening its first location in Hollywood in 2022, growing to 12 locations across California and Nevada by 2023. However, the company recently made strategic closures in Fountain Valley and Anaheim, mirroring moves by other vegan fast-casual chains to ensure long-term sustainability. Despite these changes, Plant Power continues to enhance its menu at its remaining locations. Last year, the chain collaborated with comedian and actor Tim Robinson to introduce a vegan version of the Coney dog, further showcasing their innovative approach to plant-based fast food.
To celebrate the launch of The Ribby, Plant Power will host a special pop-up event at their Hollywood location on June 28th from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Organized in partnership with Vegan Playground, the event will give attendees an exclusive first taste of The Ribby, alongside a variety of vegan offerings from other vendors. The Ribby, priced at $12.95, will officially be available for purchase starting July 2nd, but only while supplies last.
