PETA has made a big request to the developers of the upcoming Peppa Pig Theme Park in North Texas: don’t sell meat. In a recent letter to Hasbro and Merlin Entertainments, the animal rights organization expressed that offering animal-based foods would be contrary to the values and spirit of the beloved children’s show, Peppa Pig.
The letter, addressed to the companies behind the new park, emphasized that selling animal flesh, milk, and eggs would be horrifying to young fans of Peppa Pig, who adore the show’s charming animal characters. PETA suggested that the park should honor these characters by providing humane, healthy vegan options at dining establishments such as Miss Rabbit’s Diner.
“Peppa’s young fans would be horrified to learn that Miss Rabbit was serving meat and milk taken from animals who are loving, playful, and affectionate—just like Mrs. Cow and the other residents of Peppatown,” stated PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. She urged the theme park to promote a menu filled with delicious vegan foods that would leave animals in peace, not in pieces.
PETA believes that adopting a vegan menu would not only align with the show’s values but also boost visitor numbers. The organization pointed out that the Florida Peppa Pig Theme Park has already opted to leave pig meat off its menu, recognizing the inconsistency of selling pig products at a park celebrating an iconic pig character. PETA argued that this same principle should extend to other animal products.
“You clearly recognize the irony of selling pig meat, so why sell products made from other exploited animals like Carol Cow or Mrs. Cow?” the letter continued. “Just like pigs, cows and other animals are friends, not food.”
