They Lost Their Home in a Fire, But This Woman Is Just Happy to Have Her Cat Back

Author Bio

I am a writer and illustrator living in Poland.

Red Paw Emergency Relief Team, an organization devoted to assisting displaced pets and their guardians, recently took in a cat who was saved from a house fire in North Philadelphia. The firefighters, fortunately, found the animal right away and entrusted him to the responder from the rescue.

The Red Paw crew’s mission is a delicate one. The team is dedicated to confirming if there are any pets in need of help on sites of fires. With all respect to the families and neighbors, they try their best to help recover any displaced animals if they are needed to do so. Thanks to that very special work, countless pets have already been reunited with their people after such terrible events in their lives.

Abner, the cat scooped up by Red Paw after the fire, spent 72 hours at the emergency shelter before he was reunited with his family. After the horrible experience and the time away from each other, it must have been the most wonderful moment for the little cat as well as his guardians!

Red Paw quotes Abner’s guardian: “I lost a lot, but I’m alive and I have my cat, we can be together now, so I feel lucky.”

Even though the family lost so much, they are safe and reunited with their beloved pet, which seems to be the most important thing for them right now. Abner and his family cannot go home, but – thanks to their renter’s insurance – they are now staying at a hotel. A pet-friendly hotel, of course!
