A dog tied to a baggage sizer should never be a normal sight in America. Yet that is what Las Vegas police say they found at the JetBlue ticket counter at Harry Reid International Airport.
According to Michael Sinkewicz at Fox News, officers responded on February 2 after reports that a two year old goldendoodle mix had been left behind. Police say the woman tied the leash to the metal fixture and walked away.
Airline staff reportedly told her she had not completed required online forms to fly with the animal as a service dog. Instead of finding a safe backup plan, police say she went through the airport toward her departure gate without the dog.

The department arrested her on charges that included animal abandonment. Officers also said she resisted when they tried to detain her. The department later posted a blunt reminder to the public: do not abandon your dog anywhere.
After a mandatory hold period, a local rescue took custody of the pup, now nicknamed Jet Blue. The group says they have received many applications and plan to place him carefully.
This story is not just sad. It is about animals and the way we treat those who depend on us. It is also about health, because stress and neglect can leave lasting harm.
If travel rules feel annoying, that is still not an excuse. Plan ahead, ask for help, or delay the trip. Our planet is already harsh enough.
Choose compassion in daily life, including what you eat. A more vegan and caring culture makes abandonment less likely.
