This isn’t the first unlikely duo we’ve shared on One Green Planet, but it’s definitely one of the weirdest — at least for U.S. readers. They’re quite common in Perth, Australia, where Blue the kangaroo and Trooper the Rottweiler puppy live and play together as best friends.
Trooper lives up to his name as Blue, standing on hind legs, reaches out to bat his face. But he quickly joins in the game, and the two soon run, jump and play-fight for dominance just like a normal puppy pair.
Blue the kangaroo wasn’t just passing by. He lives with Trooper at their owner Ed Trindall’s home. Trindall says that the two have a developing relationship, and it will be interesting to see how things change as Trooper grows into a larger dog. Hopefully this won’t be one of those “Fox and the Hound” things, but judging by the other dog and kangaroo pairs on YouTube, it looks like these two just might make it.
