When a natural disaster occurs, it has sadly come to be expected that pets will be left behind … Hurricane Florence has been no different. Thankfully, there are always amazing people who are willing to risk their own safety to save the lives of many innocent victims.
One such victim was a nine-week-old puppy who has now been named Baby Florence. When this sweet girl was found in an appalling condition: wet, worm- and flea-ridden, and with an injured front paw. Clearly, someone saw the hurricane as an opportunity to rid themselves of an unwanted puppy. Joke’s on them though because Baby Florence is now in the care of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, receiving the best medical care and soaking up all the love she never had.
At the rescue’s vet partner, it was discovered that her injured front paw wasn’t a new injury. What happened to this tiny pup before the hurricane?! No one can be sure, but it’s sad to think that she may not have survived her situation had it not been for the hurricane … and she wouldn’t have survived the hurricane without the compassion of a passerby! It was a scary and painful journey, but now she is finally safe.
